Baby Weight Scales

!±8± Baby Weight Scales

Babies grow quickly and parents love to keep track of height and weight of their growing baby. Baby weight scales of many brands are available in the market. The qualities to consider in the case of baby weight scales are safety, precision and durability.

One type of Baby weight scales come in the form of hanging dials with a seat hung from the hook of the balance. The seat secures the safety of the baby. A typical baby weighing scale (hanging dial type) has baby-hanging trousers attached at its end.

Another range of baby weight scales consist of basin type weighing platforms above a weight scale in which baby can be safely placed while taking a reading. Examples: The MyWeigh MBS 2010 digital baby scale offers 40 pounds weighing capacity and increments in ½ oz graduations. The SECA 334 baby scales weighing tray is spacious and comfortable for a baby and its Liquid Crystal Display makes weighing easier.

Health-o-Meter has come out with an innovation. It has a sanitary child seat for safety and comfort. It has a physician balance beam with die cast, easy reading, and rotating kilo/pound beam. It has a heavy-duty steel and lever system. It reads in Pounds and Kilograms.

Another popular model is the SECA Medical 728 neonatal scale. It has a PC interface (RS 232) and is suitable for the needs of the pediatric and neo natal wards. It is one of the

best baby weighing scales to be used where the smallest fluctuations in the weight of the infant are crucial to its life and health.

Baby weight is of great worry for new parents. Usually a chubby baby is considered synonymous with healthy baby. But doctors know better- babies vary in weight and height greatly and their measurements till age two are not predictive of their weight and height as adults.

But a baby's weight may be of concern under two conditions. First, a baby weighing less than 5.5 pounds at birth maybe considered a low birth-weight baby. It may have a higher risk of developmental problems than a normal baby. It may be caused by poor maternal nutrition during pregnancy. Second condition is when baby grows at a slower rate than normal. It may be a physical problem or due to emotional neglect.

But a baby's health is determined not only by its weight and height but also other features like skin tone, muscle tone, energy level and activities like rolling, sitting up and grasping.

Baby weight scales are required for babies who are sick, premature at birth and also to enjoy their growing stages.

Should Babies Have Coffee?

!±8± Should Babies Have Coffee?

Recent research has shown that infants that were given caffeine had issues with their sleep patterns, developing potential sleep abnormalities. However, many babies can begin to see effects from caffeine even before they are born.

There are many different schools of thought surrounding whether or not you should drink coffee during pregnancy. Excessive coffee drinking was once rumored to have caused miscarriages, but most recently, scientific studies have confirmed that having up to 3 cups of coffee a day during the second portion of the pregnancy should not harm the baby. However, it does depend upon the individual because it could cause insomnia or even nausea during pregnancy. One more thing for mothers to keep in mind is that whatever they ingest will go directly into their breast milk to affect their baby. Coffee does work as a stimulant, so it may cancel out the benefits of breast milk that cause the baby to sleep. Again, there is nothing wrong with enjoying coffee in moderation while breast-feeding, but excess caffeine consumption should be avoided.

The bottom line is that it is not ideal to give coffee to a babies since it can generally cause sleeplessness. When this theory was tested on rats, the rats that had coffee as babies had abnormal sleep patterns and a faster breathing rate. There is also an age-old myth that if a young child drinks coffee, their growth will be stunted. This is not necessarily true, but coffee is a beverage best enjoyed by those that are more mature and are not growing as infants.

The best course of action is to enjoy coffee in moderation and not give it to your babies. Coffee has not been proven to affect growth rates in children at all, but when given to babies, it can affect their sleep patterns for the worse. Pregnant and breast-feeding mothers do not have to worry about their moderate coffee intake because it is recommended to drink 2 to 3 cups of coffee on a daily basis. The main reason behind this is that coffee has recently been proven to be full of disease fighting benefits, so when you enjoy it in moderation, you can count on reducing your risk for diabetes, cirrhosis of the liver, and even Alzheimer's.

However, these same benefits may not hold true for infants because the main effect of excessive coffee drinking on babies is sleeplessness. As you are caring for your infant, there is nothing wrong with moderate coffee drinking as an adult, but it is not something that should be given to small children. The main reason behind this is that it will disrupt sleep patterns, which can be a huge issue for small and impressionable children.

Other than that, you can continue to enjoy your cup of Joe regularly and in moderation because it is full of antioxidants that will fight disease and prevent premature aging! The great news to know is that coffee has been proven to be a healthy beverage when consumed in moderation on a regular basis.

Double Buggy Review - BOB Revolution Duallie

!±8± Double Buggy Review - BOB Revolution Duallie

The BOB Revolution Duallie stroller is a rugged, practical, reliable stroller that works great for mothers with two small children. BOB has become a household name for high-end strollers after getting its start as a company that created bicycle trailers. They used their same engineering principles and launched their fabulous line of strollers and have found much success. Many moms and dads would love to own their very own BOB stroller, although not everyone can afford one.

The BOB Revolution Duallie is available in two cool color combinations, depending on your taste. You can find this buggy in a navy and gray combo or an orange and brown version. Unfortunately, the Duallie has less choices than the single version of the Revolution, which also comes in pink and chocolate, blue and chocolate, and black and camel color combinations.

BOB prides itself in creating strollers for active families, and had designed each model accordingly. Moms interested in running or jogging love the forward wheel lock which is a great safety feature--it keeps the stroller moving straight ahead and prevents it from veering off the path or sidewalk.

The Duallie has advance suspension, making a smooth ride for your kids. You can go hiking over bumpy terrain and they will stay comfortable. It's a pretty smooth ride! If your kids get tired, you can recline the seats of this double buggy and they can sleep. The combined weight capacity of this stroller is 100 lbs, and the stroller itself weighs 32 lbs. Keep this in mind if you'll be hauling the stroller around town and need to be able to lift it in and out of your car.

BOB has designed this double buggy with a sturdy chromoly and aluminum alloy frame. The padded 5-point harnesses also conform to current safety standards. The foot-activated parking brake is easy to flip up and down with your toe. Safety should be the main consideration while you're shopping for any type of stroller.

The stroller has several spots to store your personal items, but you can also buy additional accessories if you wish. Note that these will probably cost extra for the Duallie which might push the price above other similar models. You can buy weather shields, sun canopies, cup holders, fitness kits, and more.
